The final leg of the 2017 Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare took place in Pune. The fifth leg was spread across 90 kilometres of narrow, winding and broken tarmac laid out on the beautiful countryside of Pasure hills. The racetrack comprised of two laps around this route by the cars and once for the bikes.
The reigning champion Suresh Rana with his co-driver Ashwin Naik maintained the lead position with a time of 10:11:26, thus extending its lead from three seconds after the fourth leg to three minutes. Coming in second with a time frame of 1-:14:52 was Samrat Yadav and S Nizami beside as co-driver in their Maruti Suzuki Gypsy. Grabbing the third spot was Sandeep Sharma with co-driver Karan Arya with a final time of 10:24:17.
The ninth edition of Dakshin Dare, a gruelling week across 2200+ kilometres, comes to an end with the defending champion Rana taking the trophy back home again. The endurance competition results are yet to be announced and we should have them before the prize distribution ceremony tomorrow.
