The Discovery seven-seat SUV from Land Rover has always been known to offer impressive electronics that make driving a pleasure. This time around, the company will be launching the new 2017 Discovery on September 28. Interestingly, the new model will get the Intelligent Seat Fold technology which allows the owners to adjust the seats remotely from anywhere in the world.
To use the new function, customers need to install the InControl Remote app in their smartphone. The app allows the user to customise the seating arrangement in just about 14 seconds, thereby eliminating the need to manually adjust them. The arrangement option is only available on the second and third row seats in the upcoming model. Additionally, the seats can also be adjusted via switches located in the luggage area, C-Pillar or using the main touchscreen display system.
Detailed list of features and other technicalities of the 2017 Land Rover Discovery will only be known post its official launch. From what is known to us, the fifth generation model is expected to weigh much lesser and also offer better fuel efficiency and handling than the older generation model. Under the hood, it is expected to be powered by new four-cylinder diesel and petrol Ingenium engines. Post launch it is expected to compete against the likes of the Audi Q7 and the Volvo XC90.
Land Rover’s Intelligent Seat Fold technology is yet another value added option from the automaker which intends on further easing things for the owner. To demonstrate its effectiveness, the company had roped in popular 42-year-old adventurer Bear Grylls, who was asked to skydive from a plane and adjust the seat as required.
