Porsche has updated their latest 911 of the 991 series. The 991.2 gets the GTS treatment with blacked-out details and will be available in both 2WD and AWD options and in the coupe, convertible and the targa body styles.
The GTS stands out from the regular 911s with the wide-track setup, 20-inch black rims, black front chin spoiler and rear splitter. It gets a GTS badge on the doors as well. The twin tailpipes at the centre are also blacked out along with the bents on the front and the rear bumpers. The body shell has been untouched except the roll-hoop on the targa which is now painted black.
Under the hood, the GTS now gets the 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six engine. It has 444bhp of power on tap, 20 more than the previous naturally aspirated 991 911 and 30 bhp more than the 991.2 911 Carrera S. The 550Nm of torque kicks in from 2150rpm all the way to 5500rpm.Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) is now standard along with the Sport Chrono Pack which brings in a new steering wheel with buttons to setup modes for engine, transmission and steering response along with the ‘boost’ button.
The deliveries would start in March 2017and we expect the new Porsche 911 991.2 to arrive in India by the third quarter of 2017. The new GTS range starts at 94,316 GBP (approx. RS 90 lakh) for the 2WD manual GTS Coupe to the Carrera 4/Targa 4 GTS costing a little over an equivalent Rs 1 crore in the UK.
