The D-segment sedan space might have mellowed down a bit in India; however, it’s still going strong in certain key markets like China. And one of the latest entrants in this segment is the new 2017 Chevrolet Cruze which has been introduced in a total of seven variants.
Prices for the new Cruze start off at around RMB 110,000 which translates to Rs 11.20 lakh. The top-spec variant, meanwhile, costs up to Rs 17.10 lakh. The new Cruze is not just longer and wider than the outgoing model but also looks the part, thanks to the elegant design details and edgier surfacing.
Under the hood, the new Cruze gets a pair of petrol engine options. The 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder motor is the newer unit and develops nearly 150bhp and 240Nm of torque. It’s also linked to a more advanced 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. The other motor, a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder unit, is a familiar affair in China and continues to make 112bhp and 146Nm of torque.
The latest-gen Cruze is among the most crucial products for GM India. Given the popularity of the outgoing car, the brand is more than likely to find a good chunk of buyers for this striking looking model.
