BMW has unveiled the 4 Series facelift for 2017. The two-door coupe features mildly refreshed styling, upgrades for the interior and new creature comforts.
The visual updates on the new 4 Series have been inspired by the original BMW 4 Series Coupé. It gets a revised bumper with bigger air intakes and LED headlamps and fog lamps which give the car an imposing front fascia. The wheel arches are flared, while the tail section gets LED tail lamps. There are also several options for wheel design in 18-inch and 19-inch sizes. New body colour options include blue and orange. BMW is also offering an optional carbon package for the exterior.
Inside, the chrome strips and surrounds for the vents and control panels give the 4 Series a more premium appeal. It also gets a new sportier-looking steering wheel. Customers can choose from a wider range of upholstery options with colour coordinated stitching. There are changes under the skin too. The chassis has been updated to lower the centre of gravity. It even gets a wider track and revised suspension to improve the handling without compromising on ride quality. The traction control system has also been updated.
Since it went on sale in 2014, the 4 Series has become a very popular model, selling over four lakh units in such a brief period. The 4 Series is available in three versions – Coupe, Gran Coupe and Convertible, though the only version sold in India is the performance-focussed BMW M4. We can expect the facelift of this model to be launched here in the next couple of months.
