The 2016 Volvo XC90 has been launched in China for 798000 Yuan (Rs 81.51 lakh) and is available with two petrol engine options. It is the second generation of the Chinese owned Swedish automaker’s flagship SUV and was unveiled globally in late 2014.
The China-spec model is pretty much similar to the vehicle that was launched in India with some added bling to appeal to Chinese buyers. It measures 4,950mm in length, 1,923mm in width and 1,776mm in height. Apart from its presence, the SUV has been applauded for its style, technological features and engine line-up.
On the interior front, most of the buttons and dials have been replaced by a large touchscreen system. The Chinese market gets a trim combination of white leather and wood inserts.
In terms of engine, the Chinese market gets the T6 and T8 variant where the latter will launch at a later date. The T6 variant gets a turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 320bhp, 400Nm of torque and is mated to an eight-speed AT. The Volvo XC90 competes with the Audi Q5, BMW X5 and the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class.
