It is a common practice for carmakers to introduce technology, previously reserved only for high end cars, to their hatchback range. The latest manufacturer to adopt this practice is Volkswagen which is expected to introduce gesture control on the 2016 Golf.
Volkswagen’s head of powertrain development, Dr. Heinz-Jakob Neuber, has reportedly confirmed to Auto Express that the 2016 Golf will boast of gesture control technology when it launches at the end of next year.
The gesture control technology on the forthcoming Golf range will be taken off the Golf R Touch concept shown recently in Shanghai. Auto Express has quoted Mr. Neuber, saying, “The interior features a preview of future VW interior technologies, with smartphone applications redefined for automotive use. The gesture control will become reality in the Golf at the end of next year.”
