The Toyota Fortuner is all set to receive a comprehensive makeover as the 2016 iteration of the SUV has been spied undisguised. The new car might be unveiled officially by the end of this year.
The car has been spotted testing several times earlier, but this is the first time the front fascia has been snapped completely unmasked. This next-gen variant of the Fortuner gets a complete design overhaul. The car gets a new two-slat grille that extends up to the headlamps and has flanks that extend over the headlights. The sweptback projector headlamps are surrounded by chrome embellishments to add to the bling factor. The bumper is redesigned and gets a new black air dam. The fog lamp housings are surrounded by thick curved aluminium accents. The rear end is expected to get a similar slim-cut treatment with sleek tail lamps.
There is no official word from the manufacturer yet, but we expect new diesel engine options for the new Fortuner. These along with the petrol powerplants are expected to come paired to manual and automatic transmissions with the availability of 2WD and 4WD options.
With the global debut to take place by the end of 2015, we can expect Toyota to launch the new Fortuner at the 2016 Auto Expo. It will then go up against its prime rival- the Ford Endeavour.
