The next generation model of the Toyota Fortuner has returned in a new set of spy pictures. Like before, the SUV has been spotted on test in Thailand, where it’s being made and exported to other markets in CKD form.
Looking at the previous set of spy pictures, the new Fortuner looks quite a bit different from the Hilux pick-up which is closely related to the former. The front-end gets a new two-slat grille that extends up to the sweptback projector headlamps. Further adding the bling factor are the chrome surrounds around the headlamps. The rear, meanwhile, is reminiscent of the much smaller RAV4 crossover with its sharp taillights and the shapely bumper.
Toyota is expected to introduce new diesel engine options for the new Fortuner, the official details of which will soon emerge. The diesel units, along with the petrol engine options, are expected to come paired to manual and automatic gearbox in both 2WD and 4WD configurations.
The new Fortuner is expected to be fully unveiled by the end of this year. When launched in India sometime next year, it will go up against the Ford Endeavour which is also due for a major update.
