Toyota's Fortuner has raked in more than 5,400 bookings and 16,000 enquiries within just two weeks of its Indian debut. The SUV was launched in India on November 7 and ever since then it has started to etch such success stories for the manufacturer.
Dealers had started accepting bookings for the vehicle way ahead of its official launch. This suggests that the number of bookings and enquiries must be way higher than the official count. This huge demand also means in a huge waiting period, which in some cities is up to two months. The carmaker says they are anyway prepared to cater to the prospective buyers and will try their best to reduce the long waiting periods for the car.
N. Raja, Director and Sr. Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, "We are overwhelmed with the response that the new Fortuner has garnered in just two weeks’ time since its launch. We have noticed a significant customer preference towards the automatic transmission and trying our best to deliver the product to the customer at the earliest so that they don't have to wait too long."
The Fortuner has been the number one SUV in its class in India ever since its launch in 2009. The latest iteration of the SUV looks promising and is able to garner such high bookings even after the festive period is over. Let's hope this new one is able to reiterate the popularity of the Fortuner brand in India. Toyota already has a base of close to one lakh Fortuner customers in India and over 1.3 million customers globally.
