The 2016 Skoda Superb has been revealed in a sketch just a few days after cars were spotted covered in what can only be described as the ‘most revealing’ camouflage to date. Based on the Vision-C concept, which was unveiled at the 2014, Geneva Motor Show, this car is expected to be lighter, longer and most likely more luxurious than the current model.
The sketch reveals an evolutionary design rather than an all-new one. The lines have become more muscular, making it look like the Superb has been pumping iron in the VW gymnasium. It also appears that there are some changes to the fog lamp housing as compared to the current vehicle while Skoda’s proprietary mustache grille now looks like it has been moved forward. However, the production model appears to be a bit more sedate and will carry all the traditional Skoda lines though the extra length has changed the characteristic of the rear end.
Some pictures of the interior reveal that a lot of the elements will be carried forward but we believe that a lot of the buttons will scrapped in favour of a touchscreen system in order to reduce clutter on the dashboard. On the engine front, the 2016 Superb is expected to continue with the 1.8-litre petrol, 2.0-litre diesel in global markets but will also be offered with a 1.4-litre petrol as well as a 1.6-litre diesel unit.
Going by how the company releases information on its cars, it is expected that the Superb will be revealed in pictures by February and then make its official debut in March at 2015 edition of the Geneva Motor Show.
