After making its public debut at this year’s New York Auto Show in April, the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander has hit the showrooms in the US, with prices starting from $22,995 (Rs 14.73 lakh) for the base-spec model.
Design wise, the 2016 model comes with LED headlights, chrome finished front bumper with shiny black cladding, unique multi spoke alloy wheels and swept back taillights. Inside, Mitsubishi says it has improved comfort levels in the middle row and introduced upgraded trim levels.
The changes aren’t merely cosmetic as the 2016 model benefits from upgraded suspension and steering set up while NVH levels have been reduced with the help of more sound deadening material and thicker glass all round.
The 2016 Outlander is being offered in either a 2.4-litre, 4-cylinder engine with 166bhp and 219 Nm or a more powerful 3-litre V6 with 224bhp and 291Nm. While the former is paired with a new CVT gearbox, the V6 model gets a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The 2016 Outlander is now on sale in the US alongside a variety of other models from Mitsubishi. As for the Indian market, the Japanese carmaker will continue to soldier on with its one model range including the Pajero Sport.
