Mitsubishi has finally revealed the updated version of the Outlander. The refreshed crossover was spied many times earlier and the manufacturer also released a teaser of the car recently. Now, with its official debut, we have all the pictures of the SUV.
This is the 2016 iteration of the Outlander that gets significant front and rear cosmetic changes. The design is inspired from the Outlander PHEV Concept-S and gets an X-shaped front bumper and a dual-slat chrome grille seen first on the concept. Apart from the prominent chrome treatment and sharp-edged headlight design, the car also gets new eccentrically-angled diamond-cut alloy wheels. The rear is dominated by the tail light units featuring red graphics with chrome feeding. The bumper is also redesigned and hosts fog lights.
The India-bound Outlander facelift is expected to be powered by 2.0- and 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engines. However, there is another U.S. spec Outlander that additionally gets a 3.0-litre V6 mill. This powerplant produces 224bhp of power and 291Nm of torque. The new Outlander has improved its engineering and drive quality as well.
Earlier, the production-ready Outlanders were snapped undisguised while waiting for shipment at a Japanese port. Recently, Mitsubishi also teased the vehicle by releasing an image. At present, Hindustan Motor Finance Corp (HMFCL) deals with sales and service of Mitsubishi products in India. There is no official announcement of the introduction of the new Outlander for the Indian market yet. Nevertheless, we can expect HMFCL to launch the petrol variant of the Outlander later this year while a diesel variant will follow next year.
