The official patent drawings of the convertible version of the latest-generation Mini are up on the internet, thanks to Autovisie. The new Mini was unveiled in November 2013 with sales starting in early 2014 across select global markets.
These leaked images show the patent drawings of what will be the convertible version of the new Mini. The vehicle will sport the same exterior design but with a fabric roof. Like the standard Mini hatch, the convertible will be based on BMW’s UKL1 platform that also underpins the 2 Series Active Tourer and the recently unveiled 2 Series Gran Tourer.
The convertible will also feature the same engine line-up consisting of 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre diesel and a 2-litre petrol engine. We expect Mini to officially showcase this new convertible model by end of the year. Given its fairly big fan base here in the Indian market, one can expect this new convertible model to join the existing Mini range consisting of the 3-door, the 5-door models and the Countryman.
