The Mercedes-Benz GLK is soon to become history as come 2015-end. Mercedes will replace the ageing SUV with an all new product. As a part of the brand’s new naming structure, the next-generation of the GLK will be renamed to GLC when it arrives later this year. We have managed to get our hands on some spy shots of the SUV testing in Europe.
The new GLC is based on the latest generation C-Class and as a result, the former will share most of the underpinnings with the new C. Interestingly, the GLC will also be available in right-hand drive configuration, meaning it will be sold in markets including the UK and a few Asian markets. Being made available with left-hand drive only, the GLK never made it to the abovementioned markets.
Looking at the spy pictures, the GLC seems like it is considerably longer and wider than the GLK, meaning it will benefit from improved cabin space and overall comfort. The GLC will be revealed later this year and will go on sale soon after, in America and Europe. The availability of right-hand drive configuration means that Mercedes-Benz India, too, will be able to sell this vehicle in India to compete with the likes of BMW X3 and Audi Q5.
