Jaguar has launched the 2016 model year version of the flagship XJ sedan in India with prices starting Rs 98.03 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai, pre-octroi). There are minor cosmetic changes to the new XJ, along with additional features.
The visual changes are restricted to the headlamps. The new XJ now gets all-LED lamps and the J-Blade LED DRLs. Inside, seats get new quilted soft perforated leather, which is also used for the trim. The features list includes surround camera system, park assist, All Surface Progress Control (ASPC), deployable rear seat entertainment with HD screens, LED tail lamps and an updated infotainment system.
The engine options for the XJ remain the same. The petrol version uses the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 237bhp and 340Nm. The diesel engine is larger using a V6 engine tuned to deliver 271bhp and 600Nm. Both the engines use ZF eight-speed gearbox and power the rear wheels.
The new XJ is assembled in India at the JLR facility near Pune. The luxury sedan competes with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8L and the soon to be launched next-generation BMW 7 Series.
