According to our dealer sources in Delhi and Mumbai, the 2016 Honda Brio hasn’t reached the dealerships yet. The Brio hasn’t been doing too well for a while and it is possible that Honda is looking clearing the stocks.
In the segment where the leaders comfortably sell over 10,000 units a month, the Honda Brio has failed to cross even the 1,000 units a month mark for a while. It seems the Japanese carmaker is putting its efforts on models like the City and the Jazz, which are doing well.
Honda may resume production once it runs out of current stocks or the other probability is that the carmaker is using the assembly line for the production of the upcoming BR-V, which is based on the extended version of the same platform. Although, we think it is too early for Honda to commence BR-V production in India.
The lack of diesel engine option hurts the Brio most in the segment. However, Honda has no plans of introducing one in the coming days, as confirmed during an interaction with the management at the 2016 Auto Expo.
We are still waiting to hear from Honda in this regard, but if you are looking to buy the Brio, then either wait for a new model or pick up a 2015 version (possibly with a decent deal!). There are plenty of offers on the Brio across the country while few dealerships are offering cars discount of around Rs 15,000, others offered benefits including insurance for Rs 1.
