Honda has unveiled the 2016 Accord in the US. Though the car is similar to the previous Accord under the skin, it gets a host of cosmetic updates to give it a new lease of life.
Visually, the new Accord gets a more aggressive look thanks to the revised front grille, LED foglamps and the sharper Acura-inspired headlamps. Even the rear gets revised bumper and LED tail lamps. Inside, the centre console integrates a seven-inch touchscreen interface, which gets Display Audio infotainment system. The system can be operated through controls mounted on the steering wheel, and is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The screen also doubles up to display the output from parking cameras and the LaneWatch system. The US market gets the option of either a 2.4-litre i-VTEC or a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engines. Both the engines get the option of a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
Though the Accord was a popular car in the Indian market at one point of time, plummeting sales led to the car being discontinued, last year. We can expect Honda to launch this new Accord in India, once it goes on sale in Europe. It will compete against the likes of the Toyota Camry, Skoda Superb and the next Volkswagen Passat.
