Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the C-Class cabriolet at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. It is based on the C-Class coupe and will rival convertible versions of the Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series.
The C-Class convertible gets an automatic folding soft top which can be brought up or down in under 20 seconds at speeds of up to 50kmph. This soft top can be had in four different shades depending on the colour of the car.
Mercedes has used the cabin layout and feature list from the C-Class coupe. This includes the floating display for the infotainment system and S-Class(ish) touchpad. What is new however are the Airscarf neck heating system, heat reflecting seats, split folding rear seats and chrome garnished controls for the soft top.
The cabriolet will be offered with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol that produces 241bhp and 370Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via the 9G-Tronic gearbox. It can also be had with the 4MATIC AWD system.
Mercedes-Benz will also offer this cabriolet as an AMG spec model.
It will be called the C43 cabriolet and will be offered with a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine that produces 362bhp and 520Nm of torque. It will get the 9G-Tronic gearbox and a rear-biased AWD system.
It is expected to go on sale later this year and should come to India in the early part of next year probably in the AMG variant only.
