Ford has revealed the new Focus RS just ahead of its debut at the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed. This is the latest iteration of the high-performance hatchback, which will take the curves on the famous hill climb circuit in England.
The 2016 Ford Focus RS is the third generation of the car featuring an all-wheel-drive system. It is powered by a 2.3-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder turbo engine that churns out a staggering 345bhp of power and 440Nm of torque (470Nm on overboost). This has bettered the power figures from the previous iteration that employed a 2.5-litre five-cylinder mill delivering 300bhp of power and 440Nm of torque. So this power output of the new car is even better than the Ford Mustang which produces 312bhp of power and 432Nm of torque.
A low-inertia twin-scroll turbocharger comes with a larger compressor for better airflow. The other additions include a larger intercooler and air intake. The car will feature a Launch Control and an industry-first - 'Drift Mode'. This mode will help the driver to do controlled oversteer drifts.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is turning out to be a good place for manufacturers to show off their new performance cars. Ford has also chosen the hill climb circuit for the premiere of the new Ford Focus that will be drifted by none other than renowned Gymkhana and world rally-cross driver Ken Block.
