Chevrolet has released a teaser image for the 2016 Spark (Beat), which is set to receive its world premiere on April 2. This will be the next generation model of the car and has been spied testing several times in Korea.
Quite recently, the new Spark (Beat) was spotted undisguised, which is when all the cosmetic details emerged. This is the latest iteration of the Spark that shares its underpinnings with the Opel Karl and Vauxhall Viva. The fascia sports a sleek looking split grille embellished with chrome and the round fog lamps are surrounded by subtle chrome linings as well. The rear door handles are still mounted near the C-Pillars in the window frame.
The cabin of the vehicle will also get a lot of changes that will not just up the premium feel, but also raise the luxury quotient. The feature list is expected to include heated front seats, infotainment system, sun roof, cruise control, park assist and a heated steering wheel.
The 2016 Spark is expected to be powered by a new three-cylinder 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine churning out 90bhp or 110bhp of power. This mill will come mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
Michael Simcoe, GM International vice president of Design, said, "The new Spark’s design has evolved and grown up with the segment. The youthful whimsy of the original Spark is still in its genes, but it is conveyed in more traditional proportions that reinforce the customer’s refined expectations.”
Chevrolet has been testing the new car since a long time and the vehicle will be finally officially revealed on April 2 at the Seoul and New York auto shows. The new Chevrolet Spark will then go on sale in Korea and the United States. We hope General Motors brings this comprehensively revised Spark to India at the 2016 Auto Expo and later launches it for the Indian market. The hatchback looks good with its sporty styling and should attract many customers here.
