The 2016 BMW 7 Series (G11) will be officially unveiled on June 10. It was previewed to a select audience in April before being spotted undisguised on two occasions. This, we believe, prompted BMW to publish a few pictures of the cabin and reveal some of the major features of the new car.
Firstly, the 2016 7 Series will be lighter than the outgoing car by 130kg thanks to what it calls a ‘carbon core’ body structure which makes extensive use of carbon-reinforced plastic. It is also expected to get the latest bi-turbo engines from the German automaker’s stable as well as air suspension from the current car.
One of the newer features that BMW has highlighted for this new generation of the 7 Series is the iDrive system with gesture control which is expected to be a first in segment. We in India will get the new 7 Series next year and it is expected to be priced significantly higher than the outgoing model. It will first arrive as a CBU before becoming a CKD in the diesel variants.
