Swedish luxury automaker Volvo has opened the order books for the all-new XC90. The full-size SUV is the first vehicle to be built on Volvo’s new SPA platform which will eventually form the base for a number of upcoming vehicles from the company.
Having been able to preview the 2015 XC90 to a number of customers and from feedback already received, Volvo has made a number of additions to the production-spec models. Major changes include the addition of the 320bhp T6 petrol engine for the UK market.
The new XC90 will be powered solely by Volvo’s new Drive-E engine range. It can be had with either a D5 225hp diesel, a T6 320hp petrol or a T8 Twin engine petrol plug-in hybrid with around 400bhp of power.
The outgoing XC90 has been on sale for more than a decade and has grown long in the tooth as compared to its rivals. For the 2015 XC90, the company has put in all its expertise and technical know-how to make it competent enough to rival the likes of the BMW X5, Porsche Cayenne, Volkswagen Touareg and the Mercedes ML-Class.
