After making its online debut in August this year, the all-new Skoda Fabia has made its public debut at the ongoing Paris Motor Show. Featuring its clean new design and slew of upgrades, the 2015 Fabia is one of the showstoppers at the Skoda show floor in Paris.
As far as the design is concerned, the new Fabia takes quite a few cues from Skoda’s Vision C concept shown earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show. It is 90mm wider and 30mm lower than the outgoing model, which means practicality and sportiness have been enhanced at the same time. While the overall length remains the same, the longer wheelbase allows for a more spacious cabin. The boot space, too, has increased.
Though it is an all-new generation, the 2015 Fabia is still based on the old car’s platform, but features many components of Volkswagen’s advanced MQB architecture. This has made the car much lighter than before. Skoda has put a lot on emphasis on making the new Skoda as light and fuel efficient as possible. The base-spec petrol model is even said to weigh well under a ton.
Globally, the new Fabia will be powered by a range of Euro 6-compliant engines consisting of 3 and 4-cylinder petrol and diesel units. The petrol range will include 1-litre, three cylinder and 1.2-litre, four cylinder TSI engines, while the diesel models will be offered with a 1.4-litre unit in different state of tunes.
Now that it’s been revealed at the Paris Motor Show, Skoda is preparing to the put the new Fabia on sale in Europe. The brand has confirmed that it will be available in both hatchback and estate versions. The high-performance vRS version, however, will not see the light of day owing to poor sales.
