The Honda HR-V crossover has been showcased at the 2015 New York Auto Show. The car made its debut at the 2014 LA Auto Show and is will go on sale in the US market in just a short while. It is based on the Jazz hatchback and has been on sale in the Japanese market as the Vezel since late 2013.
The Honda HR-V while sharing a platform with the Jazz takes much of its external appearance from its older sibling the CR-V. The cabin on the other hand has been picked up from the Jazz and will look mighty familiar to us as many of the elements are common with the India-spec City sedan.
The US market gets the 1.8-litre i-VTEC four-cylinder engine that produces 138bhp and 172Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed manual or a CVT gearbox with the latter also being offered with AWD.
Wanting to aim it as a luxurious purchase Honda has fitted the HR-V with a multitude of features both on the convenience front as well as the safety front. The former includes a touchscreen infotainment system, lane departure warning, button start; paddle shifters, powered sunroof and leather trim options. On the safety front, the car a comes equipped with ABS, hill-start, stability assist, multi-angle rear-view camera, traction control, TPMS and obviously a multitude of airbags across all variants. The car will go on sale in the US by the middle of this year.
Honda has also showcased a version of the HR-V with 10 cameras and has dubbed it the Selfie edition for those with an addiction of snapping pictures of themselves.
