The upcoming Mini Clubman was spied testing in Europe. The sighting of the four-door car reveals its large size and also leading us to speculate more about the car.
The 2015 Mini Clubman is heavily camouflaged as seen in the pictures clicked by spy photographers at WCF. However, we can confidently say that this revised car has a new design with larger dimensions which should definitely increase the space for the rear passengers. The vehicle has front-hinged rear doors which are believed to better the means of rear entry of passengers into the big car. The rear profile of the car reveals the split doors opening onto the sides making it a six-door car. There are separate wipers for the two parts of the windscreen.
There are no absolute details available about the engine of the car. It is speculated that the car will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing 189bhp of power and 300Nm of torque. It might be retuned to churn out 217bhp. The other options include a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine delivering a power of 134bhp and 230Nm of torque. The only oil-burner in the same 1.5-litre three-cylinder front might be made available capable of generating 114bhp and 269Nm of torque.
The advancements in the Mini’s testing of the Clubman tell us that the car should be made available till 2015. With the advent of this longer, taller and wider vehicle, the company might change the perspective of the people thinking Mini cars to be small and cramped up. Will this variant also have a sporty variant like the John Cooper Works Concept previewed recently? As the prototype shows dual exhausts we might not be wrong in expecting one.
