One of the most successful cars from the Mercedes-Benz range, the C-Class sedan, in its latest avatar and completely undisguised has been caught in a couple of spy photos. The 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, code-named S205, has already given us much to talk about by revealing its interiors and then a Spanish website went on to leak its exteriors in detail as well. There is not much that is left hidden, yet the undisguised wagon gives us something more write about.
The car is being called by some as the C-Class Estate, while others refer to it as the C-Class Wagon or even Kombi, but the car's real and complete name is actually the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Touring-Modell. It looks very much like a baby S-Class as it has the tell-tale vertically orientated back lights, upright grille and headlights and deep side creases on the body but a closer look reveals that this car has a personality of its own. This one has a classier design and a sportier appearance as well.
The interior design of the C-Class has officially been revealed by the German automaker and follows much of the German automaker’s design philosophy for the MFA vehicles. The C-Class is built on a new platform that will spawn sedan, coupe, convertible and station wagon variant. The 2015 C-Class is essentially a rear-wheel-drive but will be offered with the option to upgrade to an all-wheel-drive setup.
The next generation C-Class will be powered by a range of engines. The newly developed 1.6-litre four cylinder turbo petrol engine that makes 250 horsepower, as well as the turbocharged 3.0-litre V-6 as that will feature in the new E-Class will be on offer. The AMG version of the new C-Class will also get a new turbocharged V-6 engine which will replace the M156 6.2-litre V-8 sitting in the current model. The C-Class is expected to come with a six-speed manual and a seven-speed automatic transmission.
After the C-Class W205 sedan gets officially unveiled at the 2014 North American Auto Show, expect the S205 station wagon version to be launched about three months later at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The car is expected to reach India by the end of 2014.
