The Mercedes-Benz B-Class has been on sale for more than two years now and it is soon due for a facelift. The Stuttgart automaker has been doing its homework and is already testing the prototypes of the facelifted B-Class. Spy photos are proof of that.
Till now, not much information has been gleaned on the car but we can expect the compact MPV to sport the company’s updated styling cues, especially in the front end area-reason for the taping around the headlights, while powertrains will most likely be carried over from the current models. The rear end too gets changes as the prototype featured integrated exhaust pipes with a revised apron. The new vehicle is expected to be publicly unveiled at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.
Inside, look for only minor tweaks to the trim. There could be some new connectivity features and additional driver assistance packages, too.
With regards to the engine, the company has confirmed that it was developing a new family of three-and four-cylinder powerhouses. As a result, speculation is that these engines developed with alliance partner Renault Nissan could find its way into the car but on the other hand, some are dismissing this as ‘too soon to be possible’. There is already an electric version for the US market and for other European markets one can expect the old engines to be carried over.
The current B-Class in India starts at Rs 22.12 lakh onwards and is available in three versions and two fuel options. When the facelift comes India will definitely be one of the markets to receive it.
