At the 2015 Detroit Motor Show, Porsche has revealed the most powerful variant of its premium SUV – the 2016 Cayenne Turbo S.
The Cayenne Turbo S sprints to 100kmph from standstill in a sports car rivalling 4.1 seconds and there on hits a top whack of 284kmph. The 4.8-litre V8 biturbo motor belts out 561bhp and a colossal 800Nm of torque about 20bhp and 50Nm more than the old model. Porsche claims the SUV has recorded a time of 7:59.74 at the Nurburgring Nordschleife.
It gets new improved Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) systems. An active all-wheel drive Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system permanently drives the rear wheels and the fully variable power distribution sends the power to the front wheels when required.
A vehicle with so much power needs strong anchors to stop it and Porsche has fitted the ceramic brakes with 420mm front disc and ten-piston callipers for the first time. The rear gets four-piston callipers for its 770mm disc.
The Turbo S distinguishes itself with 21-inch Turbo design alloy wheels, LED headlights, high-gloss finished radiator grille, a roof spoiler and wheel arch moldings in body colour and a sports exhaust system. Inside the cabin, it gets full-leather interior as standard, it also gets new interior styling in black-crème colour.
Porsche might launch the Turbo S in Germany by June/July and we can expect the Cayenne Turbo S to be launched in India before year ends. Porsche has been discreet with its launches in India and we want this to change and hope for a grand launch of its performance vehicles at the BIC.
