BMW’s new X3, which is expected to be revealed soon, was spotted testing. The production version of the vehicle might be introduced later in 2015. The car comes with changes to the exterior and interiors and might make a debut at the New York Auto Show scheduled to take place in April 2014.
The BMW X3 would receive minor changes from outside including revised front and rear bumpers and full LED headlamps as seen in the spy pictures taken by photographers at Bimmer today. The images also show amendments on the inside with the addition of an improved layout of the iDrive system and an updated Head-Up display.
There are no confirmations about changes to the mechanical bits. The X3 is on sale in India and is available in two engine variants, both being oil burners. The base variant is powered by the 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 184bhp of power. On the other hand, all the higher variants are equipped with the 3.0-litre straight-six engine churning out 258bhp of power. All the engine options are mated to the eight-speed automatic transmission.
The German automaker has been working on this facelift of the X3 for quite some time now and speculations are that the production-ready models will be in by March 2014. This makes us guess that the manufacturer might unveil the revised X3 at the New York Auto Show a month later.
The final product rolling off the production line in the carmaker’s plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina might reach the dealerships sometime in 2015. Since BMW India’s facility in Chennai receives the units from the same plant for assembling, we can expect to receive the new X3 via the CKD route.
