The 2015 variant of the Audi TT was spotted testing on the streets of Navi Mumbai recently. The vehicle that was taking rounds was without any camouflage and snapped by a Top Gear Malayalam reader.
This new sports car is based on the MQB platform and will be made available in both petrol and diesel engine options globally. This latest version is lighter than the current TT and offers better performance, handling and fuel efficiency. The carmaker announced that three engine options will be made available when the car is up for sale.
The petrol version will be powered by a 2.0-litre TFSI engine churning out 230bhp of power and 370Nm of torque. Another petrol variant powered by the same but powerful mill in the TTS produces 310bhp of power and 380Nm of torque. The oil-burner 2.0-litre TDI motor delivers 184bhp of power and 380Nm of torque. On the transmission front, a six-speed manual and a six-speed S-Tronic DSG will be available with the option of an AWD as well.
This is the third generation of the Audi TT that premiered at the Geneva Motor Show a couple of months ago. It is surprising that the car has already arrived in India considering the fact that the sports car has not reached the dealerships in its home market, Germany, yet. The automaker will make it available by the end of this year.
Audi is testing the car on our Indian streets before they officially launch the vehicle in our country. When launched, we expect the new Audi TT to be more expensive than the current TT. It will go up against the BMW Z4, Porsche Boxster and the Mercedes-Benz SLK in the Indian market.
