A test mule of the 2015 Audi Q7 sporting a temporary registration plate has been snapped undisguised roaming around Mumbai. The German automaker’s flagship SUV made its official debut at the Detroit Motor Show in January and boasts of a new design language.
On the outside, the fascia sports a hexagonal single frame chrome grille, while the rest of car's exteriors are the same as the earlier model.Changes to the cabin, include a Virtual Cockpit instrument display and new design accents. The interior will also sport a new touch controlled MMI system and Android Auto besides Apple CarPlay will also be incorporated as a part of the Q7’s infotainment system. The rear passengers will be provided with tablets with 3D audio.
The 2015 Audi Q7 for the Indian market will be offered with the 3.0-litre V6 TDI mill that produces 272bhp of power and 600Nm of torque. This unit will come mated to a eight-speed automatic transmission. Power will be sent to all four wheels via Audi Quattro AWD technology. There is another model powered by a 4.2-litre engine which churns out 350bhp of power and 440Nm of torque.
The interesting part is that the fuel efficiency of the new car will be higher in comparison to the model on sale now. The main reason is due to the loss in weight of the car with the adoption of the new MLB platform. With 325kgs lost, Audi claims 26 per cent more fuel efficiency from the 2015 Audi Q7. The car can now do the 0 to 100 kmph sprint in 6.3 seconds.
The Audi Q7 is one amongst the five cars the carmaker has planned for the Indian market this year. The Audi TT was recently launched and will be followed by the 2015 Q7 in a couple of months. It will go up against the BMW X5, Volvo XC90 and Mercedes Benz GL Class when launched in our country.
