The Audi Q7 has been in the market since 2006 and up till now, it has managed to cement its position among the best-selling full-size luxury SUVs. It is, however, starting to feel a little traditional due to the advent of new rivals from BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Naturally, a comprehensive makeover is due and Audi is hard at work developing an all-new model to revive the Q7.
The upcoming new Q7 is already undergoing real world tests, as is evident from the spy shots of the prototype models caught on test previously. In this latest set of photos, the automaker has allowed us all to take a peek into the exterior design cues of this upcoming model. While the heavy camouflage is still there shielding the basic design, the Y-shaped LED daytime running lights and the shortened front overhang are clearly apparent.
The 2015 Q7 is expected to ride on the MLB Evo platform that could shave off as much as 360 kilograms off the overall weight. With the lightened body shell, Audi will be able to achieve impressive efficiency for the new Q7. What’s more, the automaker could even considering offering a smaller 2-litre, four cylinder engine in its full-size SUV for the first time.
The 2015 Audi Q7 is expected to debut in October this year, at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, followed by an official launch sometime next year. Like the existing model, the 2015 Q7 too will be a seven-seater and will offer a high quality interior and a range of petrol and diesel engine options.
