The 2015 ASEAN spec Honda CR-V has been unveiled in Thailand. This follows in the footsteps of the European and America CR-V which were unveiled in the last two months of which the former was shown as prototype, though it is common knowledge that this is the production spec model too.
The ASEAN spec model’s overall design is very similar to that of the American and European spec models but with obvious changes with regard to safety regulations and a few features like larger OVRMs and different design alloy wheels.
The interior too are the same as the European spec model right down to the feature list and layout of the cabin. On the engine front, the ASEAN model gets a 2.0-litre four-pot petrol motor that produces 155bhp, 190Nm of torque and is mated to a five-speed MT. The second engine option is a 2.4-litre variant that has been now mated to a CVT as compared to an actual AT box in the previous versions.
The European model also gets a CR-V with a 1.6-litre diesel engine that has been mated to the ZF nine-speed AT. However, this engine is not offered outside of Europe. We expect that Honda will launch the CR-V for the Indian market once it has launched the 2014 Jazz and that we expect, to happen by the middle of next year. It will continue to be brought to India via the CKD route.
