BMW India plans to sell the 2014 X5 and M5 in India. The 2014 spec of the X5 debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show and its production started in America in August this year.
Philipp von Sahr, President, BMW India, confirmed the introduction of the 2014 X5 in the Indian car market. He also affirmed updating the M5 and the 5 Series GT. The BMW X5 is currently manufactured at the carmaker’s production plant at Spartanburg, South Carolina.
The SUV from BMW, the X5, is available in India in two variants – the 50i and the 30d. The 50i is powered by the 4.4-litre petrol engine producing 408bhp of power and 600Nm of torque. The 30d is powered by the oil-burner 3.0-litre engine which churns out 245bhp of power and 540Nm of torque. In both, power is delivered via an eight-speed automatic transmission to all the wheels. The M5 sedan is powered by the 4.4-litre petrol engine generating 560bhp of power.
The BMW X5 50i and 30d are priced at Rs 80 lakh and Rs 81.05 lakh respectively in India. The M5 is sold at Rs 1.22 crore here, all prices being ex-showroom, New Delhi. Currently, all these models are brought to India via the CBU or CKD route and we can expect the 2014 variants of the vehicles to be introduced via the same route.
