BMW exhibited the 4 Series two-door convertible at the LA Motor Show. The 428i and 435i variants of the vehicle will be on sale in the US in first half of 2014.
The 4 Series convertibles have a slightly longer wheelbase than the 3 Series. They are also comparatively lower in height. Looking at the exteriors, BMW’s double-kidney grille and four headlamps are standard, while the interiors are as stylish as seen in other models of the company. The two-door coupe transforms into a convertible within 20 seconds at the touch of a button with its three-piece retractable hard roof-top.
Coming to the mechanical bits of the cars, the 428i is powered by the 2.0-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine producing 240bhp of power. On the other hand, the 435i is equipped with the 3.0-litre turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine churning out 300bhp of power. Both these car’s engines are mated to the standard eight-speed automatic transmission only. The US market will not be offered the manual transmission of the 4 Series.
Offered in Sport Line, Luxury Line and M Sport trims, the 4 Series will be available in the US market next year. The 428i will be priced starting from USD 48,750 (Rs 30.69 lakh) and the 435i from USD 54,900 (Rs 34.56 lakh) in the US.
