Land Rover has announced that the 2014 Range Rover will get a 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged petrol engine in place of the current 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 petrol mill. While this is the only petrol model of the SUV sold in India, the global markets also have a 510bhp 5.0-litre turbocharged petrol V8 that will remain in production.
The 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 is the same mill that powers the new Jaguar XF and XJ. It produces 340bhp and 460Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox and a four-wheel drive system.
Land Rover has taken the step to increase fuel efficiency which now goes up to 6/9/7.6 (city/highway/combined) from the previous 4.3/7.3/5.9 an improvement of 1.7kmpl. The 2014 Range Rover will hit showrooms across the US and Europe this summer. It is likely to come to our shores by November as this was the same time that the 2013 model was launched for the Indian market.
