Land Rover is likely to launch the Ranger Rover Sport for the Indian market on October 17. The car was unveiled in March at the New York Auto Show and is based on the same new aluminium platform that underpins the standard 2014 Range Rover.
The 2014 Range Rover Sport looks like a cross between the standard car and the Evoque with floating roof and extended headlamps. Like the top-spec Range Rover this one is also 420kg lighter and is evidently quicker than the previous generation of vehicles. The most interesting addition by Land Rover to the all-new model is the optional third-row seats that stay hidden under the boot floor and can accommodate two children.
It gets a two tone paint job, slightly modified grille and blacked out headlights as well as a sporty body kit that includes a rear spoiler. Inside, we find most of the luxuries from the standard car as well as a similar design language. Wood has been replaced by a carbon fibre trim option and this can be specified across the cabin.
The India spec Range Rover Sport we will get the 3.0-litre diesel and 4.4-litre diesel, along with top-end 5.0-litre petrol. All models get the British automaker four-wheel drive system and ZF eight speed automatic -transmission as a standard feature.
We expect that Land Rover will price the Range Rover Sport in the range of Rs 1.15 Crore to Rs 1.40 Crore.
