The 2014 Range Rover Sport is likely to be launched for the Indian market during the festive season. After multiple teasers and leaked spy shots from an undisclosed location, It was unveiled 2013 New York Auto Show and is a sportier version of the standard 2014 Range Rover.
The 2014 Range Rover Sport looks like a cross between its elder sibling and the Evoque with floating roof and extended headlamps. Like the top-spec Range Rover this one is also 420kg lighter and is evidently quicker than the previous generation of vehicles. The most interesting addition by Land Rover to the all-new model is the optional third-row seats that stay hidden under the boot floor and can accommodate two children.
India is likely to get the 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine producing 292PS and 600Nm of torque as well as the supercharged 5.0-litre V8 petrol that produces 510PS and 625Nm of torque. Both engines have been mated to the ZF 8-speed automatic transmission and a permanent four-wheel drive system. The vehicles will be brought into the country through the CBU route.
We expect that Land Rover will price the 2014 Range Rover Sport in the region of Rs 78 lakh to Rs 92 lakh for the top of the line 5.0-litre V8 variant.
