Land Rover has launched the 2014 Range Rover Sport in the Indian market for Rs 1.09 Crore (ex-showroom Mumbai). It was unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show in January but was spotted testing on multiple occasions last year. The 2014 Range Rover Sport is available in four variants and with one diesel and petrol engine.
The 2014 Range Rover is available in three variants; S, SE, HSE and the Autobiography. It is based on the same new light-weight aluminium platform found in the 2013 Range Rover which has made it 420kgs lighter than the outgoing vehicle. It gets a two tone paint job, slightly modified grille and blacked out headlights as well as a sporty body kit that includes a rear spoiler.
Inside, we find most of the luxuries from the standard car as well as a similar design language. Wood has been replaced by a carbon fibre trim option and this can be specified across the cabin. New features on the Range Rover Sport include traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, park assist. The 2014 Range Rover also gets an optional InControl system which has 3GWIFI hotspot, vehicle tracking and vehicle monitoring system applications for android and iOS based devices.
The engine line-up includes the 3.0-litre V6 diesel and the 5.0-litre petrol V8. The former produces 293bhp while the supercharged petrol has been tuned to produce 509bhp. Both engines have been mated to the ZF eight speed gearbox.
