The 2014 model year Range Rover and Range Rover Sport have been revealed ahead of the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. While the new Range Rover was unveiled for the global market in September 2012, the Range Rover Sport was unveiled at the New York Motor Show this year. Both vehicles are underpinned by new light-weight aluminium architecture and this is their first of model year updates.
On the outside styling front, the 2014 Range Rover is now being offered with the black design pack. This includes gloss black accents on the front grille, door handles, side vents and OVRMs. Optional on this package includes 21-inch or 22-inch pack specific alloy wheels. The interiors for the Range Rover too have been updated albeit on a much smaller scale. Upgrades include revised front seats and a new entertainment package for the rear seats.
However, the feature and safety list gets major addition in the form of traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, park assist. The 2014 Range Rover also gets an optional InControl system which has 3GWIFI hotspot, vehicle tracking and vehicle monitoring system applications for android and iOS based devices.
The Range Rover Sport’s major upgrade is the option of a 4.4-litre V8 diesel mill that churns out 341PS and 700Nm of torque. The engine has been mated to the ZF eight-speed gearbox.
It is likely that the 2014 Range Rover will be launched for the Indian market by the end of the year. Since we have not yet got the 2013 Range Rover Sport as yet, its 2014 successor is unlikely to be launched here before the middle of next year.
