BMW has unveiled the 2015 BMW X4 at the 2014 New York Motor Show. Based on the same principle as the much larger X6 it gets the coupe styling with all the required add-ons and extra beef to give it the SUV pedigree.
On the outside it gets a design very similar to that of the larger X6 which includes the standard BMW design kidney grille, large sweptback headlights and wide bumper that covers a mesh air intake. The side profile includes softly flared wheel arches, sloping roofline that leans towards to the back. At the rear, the design elements include the characteristic wrap-around tail lamps, bumper with body coloured bash plate and dual exhaust on the left side of the SAV.
The interiors are expected to be the same as the X6 so which means it gets leather seats, leather dash and steering. The goodies are expected to include the iDrive system, touch screen infotainment system, semi-digital instrument console, two-zone climate control and of course seat memory functions.
On the engine front, the X4 gets the new generation of 2.0-litre diesel engines while the petrol engines are also 2.0-litre units all turbocharged and mated to the ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox and BMW’s xDrive system. The top-spec diesel is expected to be the 3.0-litre six-cylinder unit from the X5 that produces 300bhp.
Prices in the US market are expected to start from 42,625 USD (Rs 27.54 lakh) and deliveries are expected to begin by late September. We expect that the model will be brought to India by the middle of next year and will be priced in the range of Rs 35 lakh to Rs 50 lakh.
