The 2014 S65 AMG has been spotted without camouflage in Netherlands during a commercial shoot. The car features minor differences in appearance to distinguish it from its younger 2014 S63 AMG sibling and is set for its global unveiling as part of the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The most highlighting difference is the addition of chrome to the front grille and the shiny mesh on the front air vents. The alloy-wheels also get new design while the “V12 Biturbo” badging is mounted close to the front fender to mark its distinction.
The V12 engine is allegedly a 6.0-litre monster delivering 639PS power and a mammoth 998Nm of torque. The turning force is distributed to all four wheels via the 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT gearbox and aids the car to reach 100kph from standstill despite all of the luxuries within. On the flip side, the S65 AMG will return a modest nine kilometres to a litre while diving on the US drive cycle.
Where the recently launched Audi S8 tries to blend performance and luxury, the S65 AMG takes the performance benchmark to a whole new level. While the idea of having nearly 1000Nm torque at your driver’s disposal as you send your official email and get a back massage in the rear seats is a baffling one; the AMG wing at Mercedes certainly deserves credit for another stunner.
