Mercedes-Benz has launched the 2014 E-Class luxury sedan in Pune for Rs 40.73 lakh (ex-showroom Pune). The car was first unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show in January this year and was launched for the Indian market at a function in Delhi on the 25th of June. The German automaker also held a soft unveiling for the vehicle at the Buddh International Circuit on the 22nd of June where it also previewed the E63 AMG high performance sedan that will be launched for the Indian market on 25th of July.
The 2014 Mercedes E-Class gets a new grille, revised bumpers and DRL integrated full LED headlamps. At the back, the 2014 E-Class gets revised tail lamp cluster as well new exhaust tips. This is also first time that the E-Class has got an integrated logo into the grille, a request specifically made by the Three Pointed Star’s Indian customers.
Inside, the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class gets revamped interiors with the instrument cluster losing the two outer gauges, a new centrally mounted analogue clock similar to the one on the outgoing S-Class and the repositioning of the gear selector from the centre console to the column.
The 2014 E-Class is available with one petrol and diesel engine. The petrol is the E200 variant that is powered 2.0-litre mill that produces 182PS and 300Nm of torque. The oil burner is E250 CDI AvantGarde that is powered by a 2.2-litre mill that produces 204PS and 500Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via the German automaker’s 7G-Tronic seven-speed automatic transmission.
The E-Class is the German automaker’s highest selling model in India with over 23, 000 units currently on the road since its debut here in 1995. Like its predecessors, the 2014 E-Class will be assembled locally but on a brand new line at the German automaker facility in Chakan near Pune.
