The 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W205) has been spotted on the back of a delivery truck en route to a dealership. While these are not the first pictures of the German automaker’s entry- level premium sedan, it does reveal that the Malaysian market will get the Avantgarde trim line, classic trim line as well as the exclusive trim line when the car is launched later this year.
The 2014 C-Class was unveiled in early 2014 and has been on sale in the European and American market for about 4-5 months now. It follows a similar design language as the 2014 S-Class but gets revised interiors and is based on a new platform.
The Malaysian market and Indian market are both expected to get the 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel in the C200 CGI and C220 CDI variants. Malaysia is also expected to get the C250 CGI petrol as a secondary option. Transmission options are expected to include the 7G-Tronic AT box for India and Malaysia while the latter is also expected to get the six-speed manual.
The car sales in Malaysia will begin through the CBU route but will eventually move to CKD by the early part of 2015. India is expected to follow suit in the same manner.
We, in India, will get the C-Class in the early part of next year after the launch of the CLA sedan. It will move up a notch in terms of price but still compete with the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and Volvo S60 and the Jaguar XF.
