The 2014 (Maruti) Suzuki A-Star/Alto has been spied testing. According to a report from Autoblog.it, the new car is taller, longer and is now a tallboy. This design means that the interior space will increase significantly over the current model.
While the interiors are expected to be similar to what we saw on the new Wagon R that was launched in Japan a few months ago, we expect that most of the engine line up will remain the same. This means that the 1.0-litre K-series petrol engine which produces 69bhp and 90Nm of torque.
Suzuki is also likely to launch this car with an 800cc diesel engine that it is currently working on. This engine is also expected to create a diesel range of the current small cars that Suzuki sells. The 2014 A-Star is also expected to spawn an entry-level sedan which will sit below the Swift Dzire in the Maruti Suzuki line up.
According to reports, Maruti Suzuki may also axe the Estilo from its line up once and for all in favour of this vehicle. Given that the car does not do much volume, it would not affect their sales numbers too hard.
