The next edition of the Indian Auto Expo will be held from February 6th to 12th, 2014, at the India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida. Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has confirmed that the date change was initiated to avoid a clash with Detroit Auto Show which is also held in the first week of January.
The change of venue from Pragati Maidan to the India Expo Centre has been due to unavailability of the former during the specified period. Commenting on the move, SIAM deputy director general Sugato Sen said the Auto Expo 2014 (the 25th edition) will be much bigger in terms of exhibition space. “We will have 50,000 square metres of occupied space by exhibitors as compared to less than 40,000 square metres that we had at this year’s Auto Expo,” he added.
The venue is not the only thing that has changed - the name has been changed to "Auto Expo - the Motor Show 2014", which is quite a mouthful. It will also be split into two separate events, one for automobile manufacturers, and the other for the components industry. SIAM has however not specified a venue as yet for the component manufacturers’ exhibition. We hope that the proposed changes make the Auto Expo - the Motor Show 2014 much more organised and successful.
