The 2014 Hyundai i10 (known to us in India as the Grand i10) has been priced in the UK for 8345 GBP (Rs 8.22 lakh). It replaces the current car and is available in trim levels and eight variants. However, unlike India which has got a new 1.1-litre diesel, the UK market will continue with a 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine. While following the same overall design, feature list and shape, the European spec i10 is smaller than the Grand i10 by 100mm.
The trim levels for the UK market are S, SE and Premium of which the S trim line only gets the 1.0-litre engine while the AT option is only available with the 1.2-litre engined SE trim line. Even the most basic variant in the UK gets central locking, front power windows, day time running lights, tilt-adjust for the steering and a CD player with USB compatibility. Surprisingly, AC seems to be an option and costs an additional 600 GBP. The SE variant includes electric rear windows, remote central locking and heated OVRMs. As mentioned earlier, it is the only variant to be offered with the AT gearbox.
The premium variant as the name suggests are the highest spec variant of the car and is the equivalent of our Asta petrol variant. However, the UK market on this trim also gets LED DRLs, speed limiter, cruise control, heated front seats, heated steering wheel and optional 15-inch alloy wheels. The Premium 1.0-litre manual has been priced at 9995 GBP (9.83 lakh) while the Premium 1.2-litre variant has been priced at 10495GBP (Rs 10.32 lakh). The 2014 UK spec Hyundai i10 is manufactured at the South Korean automaker’s plant in Chennai.
