The 2014 Honda Jazz has been spotted testing in India. We first got a glimpse of the car when it was launched for the Japanese domestic market in late 2013 and then got a view of the India-spec version at the 2014 Auto Expo in February. The car that has been spotted here (at some kind of Honda facility) is one of the lower-spec versions as it is running on black coloured steel wheels instead of the 10-spoke alloy wheels that we have been used to seeing till date on the car.
It embodies the Japanese automaker’s new ‘Exciting H Design’ philosophy, something that has been adapted for the 2014 Honda City, 2014 Honda Civic and the not-for-India Vezel/HR-U compact SUV. The 2014 India-spec Honda Jazz will get a similar feature list and interior design as that of the 2014 Honda City. On the engine front we expect that they will offer the car with the 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and the i-DTEC diesel engine. The former is offered with a five-speed manual/CVT automatic while the diesel will be sold with a five-speed manual.
It is expected to be launched in the Indian market next year and will be priced in the range of Rs 4.7 lakh to Rs 7.5 lakh. It will be produced at the Japanese automaker’s new plant at Tapukara in Rajasthan alongside the Mobilio MPV.
