The 2014 Honda Jazz will be launched in Malaysia this month. The Japanese carmaker has been promoting the vehicle through a mobile roadshow giving an eyeful to locals in the country. A local website has managed to click some pictures of the vehicle when it stopped at a mall in Selangor, Malaysia.
The vehicle used for promotion didn’t have any badges at the rear except its name, butaccording to the source it was the top-of-the-line V spec model. The interiors were equipped with six airbags, a button to switch off stability control on the dashboard.
Honda Malaysia seems to be running a contest where buyers who book the Jazz on or before July 15 will get a chance to win a trip to Maldives. Honda has been accepting orders for three variants of the Jazz – 1.5 E, 1.5 S and 1.5 V adds the source.
The Jazz in India is expected to get the smaller 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine used in the Brio hatchback and the Amaze compact sedan. It will also get the 1.5-litre Earth Dreams diesel engine which is powerful and efficient. However, we would be surprised if Honda offers the 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol mill from the Honda City. The 117bhp motor will put it into the hot hatch category and it does make sense as Volkswagen will introduce its 105bhp 1.2-litre GT TSI. These are still early days but we expect the Jazz to be available in more than three variants for petrol and diesel models.
In its last stint the Jazz didn’t do well, the lack of a diesel mill and the high sticker price were cited as the major reasons for its failure. This time around Honda will offer a diesel motor and we believe they will work on the pricing factor properly before its rumoured launch during the festive season in India.
